'A GOOD rider NEVER stops learning'

STRUCTURED INSTRUCTOR TRAINING COURSES

Objectives

The object of a MCA training course is to train candidates to a standard in order to qualify with the Driving Standards Agency and become certified Approved Motorcycle Instructors at any level. The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) are an executive agency of the department of the Department of Transport who are responsible for conducting all driving test and supervising approved driving/riding instructors.

We are registered with the Department for Education & Skills as a “Learner Provider’ for “Career Development Loans’ (CDL No: 10968) as well as the armed forces resettlement scheme.

Driving Standards Agency (Cardington) Assessments

Following the completion of one of our courses, candidates must attend the DSA Training Centre in Bedfordshire for an assessment of their ability to become authorised Motorcycle Instructors. The CBT assessment is over two days and candidates will be assessed not only for their knowledge and presentation of elements of Compulsory Basic Training, which must be of a required standard, but also for their ability to pass on their skill and knowledge in a supervisory capacity in order to train their own down-trained instructors.

The DAS assessment is over half a day when candidates will be assessed for their ability to instruct trainee’s in the differences between small and large machines and to teach them to handle and ride a large capacity motorcycle.

The Courses

MCA has structured the following comprehensive training courses for independent qualification with the Driving Standards Agency. This will allow successful Trainee Instructors to start their own training establishment or secure employment in any part of the British Isles as an Approved Motorcycle Instructor.

Once a booking has been confirmed and on receipt of deposit, candidates will receive detailed information and one of the most comprehensive training manuals ever prepared in plenty time to study and prepare to attend the course.

Additional training

Wherever necessary MCAcan provide additional daily training for candidates wishing to make up for un-anticipated personal shortfalls or for previously trained, dissatisfied instructor from other bodies. We also offer the opportunity for qualified instructors to add an advanced riding qualification to their portfolio.

Advice and equipment

MCA will endeavour to assist successful candidates in any way they can, in the form of advice regarding the setting up of an ATB. There are many hurdles to overcome and agencies to deal with, such as communication with the DSA, acquisition of machines, equipment, premises etc. We’ve been at it a long time and know the pitfalls.
