MC Academy Ltd: ______________________________________________
Professional Rider Development, Response & Road Risk
MC Academy began life many years ago as 'The Motorcycle Academy' with our training director Mike Addison. A former police motorcyclist, Mike worked with Local Authority Road Safety agencies and for those old enough to remember the now obsolete 'BMF star rider' scheme'
At that time motorcycle instructors were volunteers with no professional qualifications until the then Driving Standards Agency (DSA), following a European directive, introduced qualifications to deliver Compulsory Basic Training through registered Authorised Training Bodies (ATB's) which led in 1997 to Direct Access training for older candidates on bigger machines.
Mike became involved with 'post-test' training after qualifying with RoSPA The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents. It wasn't long before he was recruited as an examiner and soon after invited onto their 'National Diploma' team where he is still pro-active delivering and/or assessing courses throughout the year in the UK and EU.
Over the years Mike has trained riders and instructors at all levels from complete novice through to advanced level. He has run several successful motorcycle training schools within motorcycle main dealerships.
