Motorcycle Instructor Training & Accreditation Training

The Driving Standards Agency

Motorcycle instructor development takes many forms. This page is for Motorcycle Instructor Training and Accreditation Training.  In terms of 'on-road training, there are many individuals claiming to be 'motorcycle instructors' offering training in one form or another and currently there is...

to be registered with the Department of Transport executive department, the 'DRIVING STANDARDS AGENCY' as an 'approved motorcycle instructor' other than the training of 'learner riders. There are also ways in which individuals can legitimately train learners without qualifications.

Although some individuals may be well meaning and possiibly quite good at what they do, they may well not hold any kind of insurance for what they offer.

We have outlined below the most common qualifications for instructors.

Organisation      Training        Governing Body        Qualifications
John Doe   Advanced   None   None
IAM   Advanced   IAM    Observer
RoADAR   Advanced   RoSPA   Tutor
ATB   CBT    DSA    125 Instructor
    DAS   DSA    125 + Instructor
    RPMT    DSA   Post-test ERS
 RoSPA   Diploma   RoSPA    National Diploma

Regrettably we no longer have time to deliver any 'learner' training programmes but have been responsible for countless motorcycle passes and instructors qualifying at DSA learner level over the years, many of whom have gone on to open their own training schools throughout the country and we are happy to advise and direct you to them.

If it is 'post-test' instructor training or accreditation you are looking for then please view the following pages.
